The Four Seasons Painting

This multi-panelled piece consists of 4 abstracted landscapes and 21 wild birds. The landscapes are oil on linen and the birds are on 12 cm square canvasses. The birds give the brightly coloured panels a little space to breathe while adding a contrast that I hope accentuates each part of the whole. I have spent many years in the wild and continue to be fascinated by these tiny creatures, seemingly so fragile but also so brilliant and evocative. I was once mesmerised by a tiny bird that, from a log that was floating just off shore in a lake at 10,000 feet somewhere in the Sierra Nevada, sang a concert just for me. You'll have to take my word for it.
