About The Artwork

This piece is inspired by the old saying that Crows (or Ravens) are the messengers between Heaven, Hell, and Earth. I heard that the crow has three colors, Purple, so that they recognize him in heaven and allow him free passage, teal, so that he is recognized in hell and allow him in and out, and black on earth so that it is feared and respected. The message this particular crow brings is obvious, but if you read between the feathers, you realize its more of a symbol of "letting go of expectations", and just accepting life as life. I would like viewers or clients to realize that "its not that serious", we can relax sometimes. Like the Dalai Lama said, "because I accept life as life, in my world nothing ever goes wrong". This, like my other work, is made with oil paints, ink, acrylics and varnishes, over a "canvas" made entirely out of sun dried wall paint. Its not really a canvas, its a thick layer of paint that has been peeled, hung, and painted over from both sides.

Im a multi disciplinary artist living in LA I have four dobermans who help me make my artwork. During my time in school I stumbled upon a really cool process which my professors said the hadn't seen before. After years of meticulous exploring, I was able to figure out how effectively produce tapestries made entirely out of paint. They suspend from the ceiling or inches away from the wall, and are sometimes painted on both sides for 360 viewing or to be flipped to showcase the other side (2nd painting). My main focus is psychology, and the moment of choice. Many of us are repressed by the moments that created trauma in our childhoods, expectations of others, and society. Its so hard to be oneself these days, but we are not alone. These paintings are meant to remind us that there is another way, something unseen, and something we can work on little by little to become the best version of the humans we are.
