The Other Me Painting

Born and raised in Michigan, the artist lived in Boston and New Bedford, Massachusetts for nearly twenty years. She holds a Master of Fine Arts, Design degree in painting from the University of Massachusetts. After Graduate School, Marcia moved to San Diego County California where she lived for ten years, working briefly as an art instructor for men and women in prison and in an after program for individuals who had been incarcerated for alcohol and drug related crimes. She was an Artist/Member and Board Member of the San Diego Art Institute and was awarded three solo shows in the SDAI Gallery Hales returned to Michigan in 2002 and became a member of the Gallery 544 Group in Traverse City, and continues to show at the Twisted Fish Gallery in Elk Rapids, MI. She exhibited in other galleries in Northern Michigan until July of 2020 when she moved to the Detroit area. Her first showing is at the Anton Art Center Michigan 48th Annual. She is now a member of the Detroit Artist Market. Marcia’s paintings and prints have been exhibited internationally, with art in collections in the U.S., France, Mexico, and Turkey. She was heralded as an “Artist to Watch” by Traverse Magazine (September 2013) and there is an article about her work and life online called “Twists and Turns” from Northern Express 2016. She was interviewed on Channel 9 & 10 News, Northern Michigan 2021 Marcia was interviewed on South Coast Artists Index In-Focus Podcast Number 94 2021
