About The Artwork
In 2009, the year I painted this portrait, Katy Perry had recently risen to fame. So I was painting pictures that represented the stereotypes of contemporary people: "The student", "The yuppie", etc. This represented "The singer". In the process I drew the figure in charcoal, from a photo; then I showed the charcoal lines that protruded from the figure, so that the stages of its elaboration could be seen. The background is the white of the base paint, like all the works belonging to the La Línea Blanca (The Line Blanche) series. Signed and dated on the reverse.
