About The Artwork

I love weird shaped trees, especially pinetrees. On my walks in the forest I take a lot of tree photos with my smartphone and than I use the most interesting ones as references for the paintings. Although these two pine "sisters" are the same species, they are so different: one is straight and slender, the other one is twisted and full of burls. Each is beautiful in it's own way.

I was born in 1987 in Warsaw, Poland and I still live here. I was studying Philosophy for several years, but art has always been my biggest passion. I love the atmosphere of unease and dread. That’s how I perceive the world around me. I’m trying to convey this mood through art. At the same time I hope that I’m able to give my viewers not only shivers but also some aesthetic pleasure. Technical ability is of great importance for me. I admire the Old Masters not only for their technical brilliance, but also for the elegance and emotional moderation of their paintings. In my own paintings I’m trying to achieve some kind of undefined feeling of anxiety by choosing appropriate models and locations, and by means of composition and lighting.
