About The Artwork
A mostly monochromatic oil painting of the reggae singer Yellowman (or King Yellowman). Taken from a photograph by Masataka Ishida in 1988 at Japans Sunsplash event, I was intriged by the lighting effects. Yellowman is a legend and survivor, coming from a hard upbringing, being an orphan in Jamaica, and shunned due to albinism, surviving invasive jaw surgery for cancer, he is still going strong today, touring the world. An absolute reggae hero of mine, hence the painting. Zungguzungguguzungguzeng!
