About The Artwork

Echo (Paris, 2013). Signed and numbered edition. 40x40 (16x16), printed with white borders on Hahnemühle Baryta extra white 325 g/m². Print signed and numbered on the back of the support. Certificate of authenticity provided with the artwork. Author’s note : Winter 2013, I need abstraction, silky softness. I work on different series around movement and shooting speed. This echoes the little music that was expressed within me. I would like to point out that this series exists in color (originally) and that it was produced, outdoors, in the heart of Paris, without the slightest image processing, after the photo was taken. ~~~~~~ Born in 1961, Laurence Garçon took her first documentary photographs in the United States between 1979 and 1980, after 10 years of classical music studies and a degree in marketing and advertising. Art director of a fashion magazine and then of communication agencies, creator and producer of adventure events in the world's most beautiful deserts for 12 years, then editor-in-chief of an online magazine (1998-2003), she turned to freelance photojournalism in 2004. A renowned documentary photographer, her collection of photographs illustrates more than 20 years of Parisian life with realism, strength and sensitivity. She is also the author of several books on the urban themes she has explored. Further information : Kodak Photography Prize 2001. Numerous awards between 1999 and 2001 for the magazine of which she is editor-in-chief. In 2007, several works selected by the BNF Richelieu to be included in the "Photographs and prints" national collections. Member of the jury of the Vincennes Images Festival in 2015. Collection "Istanbul" (60 photographs) presented to the public at the Voies off Festival in Arles in 2016.
