Paris, May 01 2022 - A masked protester sits in front of a large street fire holding a sign that roughly translates to "Withholding Tax" during Labour Day demonstrations. Police fired tear gas as shops and banks were smashed a fires lit. Originally a day to celebrate labourers and the working class, 2022 saw protesters angry and the country's then recent presidential elections which had Emmanuel Macron voted back into office, and in particular his plans to raise the retirement age to 65. 45 arrests were made and eight police officers were left injured. 60x40in.
