This is a print hand pulled on a traditional etching press. The image was made with a manual photographic printing process called Polymer photogravure. This is print number 2, part of a limited and varied edition of 5 prints, each with differences resulting from the way the matrix is inked. I used different colours, sometimes black ink, sometimes purplish ink similar to burgundy, always best quality etching inks. The image, constructed from a photograph taken by me, belongs to a series on botanical gardens. In this case, it shows the outside of the greenhouse at Kew Gardens in London. Please pay attention to the size of the paper with the white margin. Image size: 6,89 inches x 4,53 inches x 0,04 inches (11,5cm x 17,5cm x 0,1cm) Paper size: 10,6 inches x 10,6 inches x 0,04 inches (27cm x 27cm x 0,1cm) Each print is numbered and signed by me. The work is shipped in a box with a Certificate of Authenticity. Please, contact me if you have any questions.

Although I graduated from the National School of Fine Arts, I dedicated myself to philosophy for a long time working at the University of the Republic (Uruguay) until 2023. A few years ago I returned to my artistic activity with an important dedication to printmaking. When I began to incorporate photographic images, it felt natural for me to approach them in that context completely dominated by manual work. I quickly became interested in photogravure on copper plate and currently my artistic practice is focused on the combination of printmaking and photography, although not exclusively. I especially enjoy paying attention to material supports that give us a more tactile and intimate experience with photographic images. Procedures used in 19th century photography provide us with good tools for this and can be combined with contemporary techniques. Photogravure is one of these processes. It is as beautiful as it is cumbersome, but it gives the surface of the paper the character I am interested in. Proximity, materiality and smallness are aspects that I prefer to prioritise in our experience with images. Please, check the site photogravure.com It is an excellent source for spreading the word about this technique's place in the history of photography.
