The GiftBearers is a hand-carved and inked artwork. Inspired by Bulgarian modernist murals and sculptures depicting the March 1878 liberation and re-founding of the country from the Ottoman Empire. This artwork focuses on the theme of unified civilians and community, which is mirrored through the repeating lines and use of space. The initial sketches were completed on the grounds of Tsarevets fortress, the completion of the piece was mostly outdoors during coinciding anniversary festivals and medieval camps. This is a conversation piece with a historical narrative. Liberation day is celebrated as a national holiday. It has been created with artist grade oil based inks over handcarved medium and printed on cotton rag paper, acid-free and archival quality. Each stage has been created by hand, not a digital drawing or printout. A limited edition of 4 exist, one is kept by myself, two have been sold and this is the last remaining. Each has been signed and numbered by the artist. Note: As a handcrafted artwork, slight variations may occur, enhancing its individuality and artistic value.
