About The Artwork

"Bloom #4" is a mesmerizing minimalistic artwork that showcases sustainable creativity and the transformative power of recycled materials. Crafted from an abundance of paper leftovers from previous projects, it breathes new life into discarded resources, presenting a visually captivating and thought-provoking composition. Each delicate circular shape, resembling broken eggshells, undergoes a meticulous process using paper pulp. Carefully shaped and left to dry, the circles acquire a shell-like texture, radiating elegance and resilience. On the front side of the circles, the artist skillfully applies a pristine white hue, infusing the composition with a sense of purity and calm. In contrast, the back side boasts a vivid array of bright colors, symbolizing the vibrant energy of nature's blooming beauty. The circles' arrangement in a circular formation further emphasizes a floral resemblance, akin to a magnificent bouquet, symbolizing growth, renewal, and the passage of time. Elevated with foam stickers, graceful shadows and subtle plays of light enrich the composition. "Bloom #4" serves as an enchanting visual ode to nature's wonders and the creative possibilities unlocked through sustainable practices. It celebrates the art of transformation, reimagining, and renewing materials with captivating simplicity. Witnessing its awe-inspiring display of contrasting colors and textured surfaces instills wonder and appreciation for the beauty emerging from recycled materials.

Olga passionate about art ever since she was a kid. She feels like she was born to be an artist. The choice of profession was obvious to her. Olga formerly worked as an illustrator, graphic designer and she painted photorealistic portraits on commission  before turning to full-time paper artist.  Skorokhod experimented with different techniques and materials while she was in Ukraine in hopes of finding her own art style in which she could constantly develop and be recognized worldwide. But it wasn’t until she completely stepped out of her comfort zone and moved to the U.S. that she eventually found it. Art is necessary for Olga. It’s like breathing. You can’t live without oxygen, so Olga can’t live without art. She craved to create. Since Olga had a small budget and couldn’t afford paint and canvas, she started working with the most affordable printer paper. It turns out paper was exactly what Olga has been looking for because she always liked monochromatic high textured artworks, and cutting by hand was a form of healing meditation for her. "If you are a professional artist and you have a sense of destiny to create, then you can make a piece of art from anything. It doesn't matter what materials and tools to use." That is how Olga Skorokhod’s paper art journey began. Olga’s sculptures are created by inspiration of nature's fascinating beauty. She likes natural formation and their textures. Olga intends for each viewer to feel an emotional response to her works by sharing through her universe of artistic expression. Olga’s work showcases strong rhythms between space and shape and favors complementary color palettes. Her artworks have the illusion of 3D because of the paper sculpture techniques she uses. Today, Olga Skorokhod is a prizewinning artist whose works have been featured in more than 50 exhibitions nationally and internationally. Olga’s works are in private collections in more than 15 countries. She has publications In more than 15 blog posts. Olga’s  artworks were featured on CNN Indonesia. Olga Skorokhod is a bestselling woman artist on Saatchi Art. Also, her works are included in “The Paper Craft Ideas Book” by Jessica Baldry. Paper sculptures were selected by Austrian company “MM Carton” between 13 selected artists from all over the world for the corporate Passion of Cartonboard 2018 and 2019 calendar. Several students have written their diplomas and doctorates based on Olga’s works.
