About The Artwork
Cone 6 Electric fired, colored slips and glazes. Part of a residency show at District Clay Center in Washington DC, “Vital Breath” explored connections between natural imagery and the human figure as a metaphor for particular psychologies. It was inspired by hopefulness and the feeling of being inspired. This piece was the inspiration for a public art work that I completed for the Washington School in Baltimore MD.

Vicki Wilson began an apprenticeship to Retha Gambaro, noted bronze and stone sculptor, when she was 16 years old. She holds a BFA from PNCA and an MFA from PSU. She taught college art and design for 15 years before spending several years at ceramics residencies on the East Coast and then opening her own ceramics teaching studio on the Oregon Coast.
