This geometric plaque is based on the pattern of a 1930s stained glass windiow. Different coloured glasses (including dark and light blue, turquoise, yellow and red) have been melted in the recesses created by carving out the clay. The plaque could be mounted on a base board or in a bespoke frame, or stood on a plate stand, as shown in the images. The latter has the advantage of allowing the plaque to be placed by a window and it then looks even more beautiful as the sun bounces off the glass revealing all the different colours. If required a felt backing can be provided for a nominal £6/$7 extra. This is one of a number of such panels and tiles displayed on my website. These include some larger than this particular one, as well as many smaller ones, many of which have melted and glass fused to the clay. These tiles and panels can be incorporated in back splashes or included ith ceramic tiles within a bathroom, etc. The making of one of these panels, from start to finish, can easily take 20-25 hours. First a slab of clay has to be rolled out, then there's the drawing out of the pattern followed by the carving out of the shapes. After the first firing, underglazes, crushed glass and a clear glaze are all applied. The piece is then fired for a second time in a process known as the 'glost' or glaze firing

I have been a ceramicist for more than 30 years. 99% of my work is made using coils, slabs and pinch pots with the occasional use of extruded forms and aslip casting. The emphasis of my work is scupltural and ornamental rather than utlitarian. I have a particular interest in the fusing and melding of glass to ceramics and this body of work is collected from as far afield as the Middle East and USA.
