The Blue Princess was created during my residencies in Virginia when I was experimenting with colored clay in wood kilns. The heavy texture is piped with a pastry bag and was the second attempt at this process. The work is Anagama wood fired ceramic with slips, stains, glazes and colored clays. She is a dichotomy, appearing simultaneously as an antique and something new. The techniques used to make her are both ancient and contemporary.
