Unnatural History 8 Sculpture

“Unnatural History,” examines the relationships between people and other animals using the concept of reflections. This sculpture is materially a departure from the paintings from the series, however there is an interactive element. The "nose" of the sculpture is polished to a reflective finish, so one may see themselves within the object. The reflections open multiple planes, fracturing the image, and forming unconventional spaces.The opens a dialogue regarding issues such as human interference within the animal kingdom, morbid curiosity, or how both love and cruelty motivates people to hunt the creatures and display them in an attempt to mimic life. A plastic bottle can take 450 years to decompose, yet we treat it as instantly disposable. For centuries human beings cast precious items in metal so it may stand the test of time. How would life change if we treated plastic as a precious material?
