About The Artwork
"Come From Away", a collage/mixed media painting on archival water-colour paper, was my response to the theme of immigration. Canada is celebrating its 150th birthday in 2017. Since I immigrated to this country, a nation of immigrants, many years ago I decided to create a piece that reflects this idea. The collaged materials I used included maps, ship's register with lists of names, post cards, stamps ; in short a mix that would reinforce the theme of immigration.

Myra Evans is a visual artist living and working in Toronto, Canada and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. After retiring from a long, rewarding career as a high school teacher and administrator, Myra discovered the joys of painting, especially using water media. After 15 years of creating impressionistic water colour portraits, she is now experimenting with acrylics, pastels ,hand made paper, collage/texturizing techniques, inks and watercolours. Exploring abstraction using figurative images with alternative mediums has been an on-going adventure. Her time and energy has been focused on developing as a painter.
