"… Mama, when Daddy beats me And I come to you complaining Why do you tell me notty child deserves beating And that he wants to make a man of me Does also rebe cares for this While beating me with belt? Only you, mama are so bad - Don’t you want me to be a man…" Mordechai Gebirtig "When Daddy Beats Me" Heartbreaking words that I couldn’t resist illustrating. I could never understand how violence can make anybody a better person. And never believed people who tried to persuade me that’s how you should treat children. I believe children are good beings from the very start of their life, parents just need to support them and love them. I was moved so much realising that Gebirtig had the same thoughts so long ago, in the beginning of the previous century, when almost nobody thought about children’s feelings. Art is giving birth to creation. No matter what would I create it will always be art. I love to paint, it is like falling into a trans state and giving life to your own world, world of colors and figures from your imagination. They always have their own story, which reveals to me the more I look at them. I love to create illustrations and then give them new life animating their movement. Sometimes I dance and even happened that I performed in a theater. I love to dream and imagine things, so many people ask me to guide them into so-called inner journeys or visualizations. ---------------------------------------------------- Justyna Rosa is an artist, graduated from the Departments of Painting and Arts Education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow; a painter, designer and animator, working for a variety of companies in Poland and Europe, amongst them Phoenix Press, Donnelley Polish American Printing Company, RMF.fm, OpusB, adHeads, Sephora, Hyundai, Idea Bank and many others.
