"O, good klezmer, take your fiddle in hand, And play for me the song of the Golden Land…. Once upon a time, my mother used to sing me This song with great feeling. O, play it for me, play! When I hear the song, it seems That my dear mother is hovering over me. Her lovely figure, her tender glance— They awaken my childhood happiness. When I hear the song, I suddenly see My mother. She’s preparing my cradle for me And I feel on my forehead her slender hand— She sings me the song of the Golden Land. “Once there was in a Golden Land A clever only son, a beautiful diamond,” She sings, and the clock’s pendulum ticks, And the cradle rocks. Ay lyu lyu lyu." Mordechai Gebirtig "Golden Land" I love Marc Chagall’s dreamlike paintings, those Jewish villages with elements floating in the air, with distorted perspectives of the somnambulic reality. I also love “The Fiddler on the Roof” movie and Jewish music. It comes to my mind whenever I read this nostalgic poetry with the feeling of the childhood times being the best and never to repeat again. Mother the safe harbour, loving her child and creating the world around him to be the Promised Land, a land flowing with milk and honey. Art is giving birth to creation. No matter what would I create it will always be art. I love to paint, it is like falling into a trans state and giving life to your own world, world of colors and figures from your imagination. They always have their own story, which reveals to me the more I look at them. I love to create illustrations and then give them new life animating their movement. Sometimes I dance and even happened that I performed in a theater. I love to dream and imagine things, so many people ask me to guide them into so-called inner journeys or visualizations. ---------------------------------------------------- Justyna Rosa is an artist, graduated from the Departments of Painting and Arts Education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow; a painter, designer and animator, working for a variety of companies in Poland and Europe, amongst them Phoenix Press, Donnelley Polish American Printing Company, RMF.fm, OpusB, adHeads, Sephora, Hyundai, Idea Bank and many others.
