After escaping from the chains that bound him on Broadway, King Kong goes on a rampage, searching for Ann Darrow (Fay Wray), and destroying a trestle, a train, and it's passengers along the way. Depression-era, city-dwelling children watch in astonishment, from their second and third story apartments. This piece was first exhibited at the Creature Features Gallery in Burbank, California, on Saturday, March 4th, 2017, for 'The Art Of King Kong' Exhibition. References of original conceptual art by Byron Crabbe and Mario Larrinaga, designs and concepts by Fred Reese, Victor and Marcel Delgado, Willis O'Brien, and Merrian C. Cooper, the ingenuity and developmental skills of Vernon l. Walker, Linwood G. Dunn, and the RKO optical printer, pristine 16mm film prints containing deleted scenes, and rare, behind the scenes production stills, were the inspirations behind these works of art . This painting is also featured in "Giant Monsters of Filmland", an encyclopedic volume of all of the giant monsters that have rampaged across the silver screen since movies began, Jonathan Morrill's King Kong paintings have received an entire page (page 353), featuring five of his original giant monster paintings! Published and conceived for the press by the brilliant Eric McNaughton. https://webelongdead.co.uk/product/giant-monsters-of-filmland/
