About The Artwork
This work is inspired by the notion that true reality is the internal mind. I wanted to stray away from the idea of starting with a concept or feeling that the painting is moulded around; instead, I decided to let my subconscious mind and pure imagination guide me to come up with 'random' subject matter, and from there, I the meaning and feeling showed itself to me as the painting grew. This is the first painting of a three-part series, inspired by an 'inception' like state of reality, where there are worlds within worlds. My intention behind this series is for viewers to perceive and feel whatever they choose, whether that be from colour, subject or concept.

I believe that the only true, ultimate reality that we are able to experience is that of the internal mind; any artwork that we come across is a reflection of the intimate inner-workings of a person's mentality. For me, creating is the most effective way to mentally shed. It is incredible that what can feel like undecipherable, chaotic thoughts can unwind, travel and flow through the body and transform into a tangible, visible 'thing' that fits within the limitations of a canvas.
