About The Artwork
Inspired by The Afghan Girl photography by Steven McCurry in 1984 of the then 12 year old Sharbat Gula and was then featured in the National Geographic in 1985. I have always admired the intensity of the photo and had sketches of it when I was starting. Now having enough confidence on working with oil, I have painted the same photograph shot that is now 20 years old.
