In this barren land on the sea, where there are boats coming and going, the two main androgynous characters of this series are forced to say goodbye. Their last hug is the real protagonist of this painting. The two figures seem to be attracted in opposite ways by invisible forces. They don't have hands in order to represent this impossible and brief hug. However, one of them holds a compass: it's a gift from his lover; maybe one day he'll find his way back to him thanks to that compass On the background two other storylines intersect. In this land of despair other two silent figures are forced to separate, while on another hill a man tries to find his own head on a chessboard where he's playing a silent game with himself; a metaphor of a child growing into a man, who has to decide his own future. This surrealist oil on canvas was inspired by the styles of De Chirico and Dali, two of my favourite painters. In this collection the characters don't have a specific gender: they are androgynous to be close to the lgbt ideal of love, a modern vision that tells that love is born between people and not between genders.
