Faces always interest me, I want to find out what is hidden behind a facial expression. In this picture, I have depicted a young woman who is half covering her eyes with a white lace. We have the feeling that this obstacle makes her look at us even more insistently; we can hardly avoid her gaze. I am interested in this double game of wanting to hide and yet seeking eye contact with others. It is about the depiction of shyness and curiosity, of wanting to hide and yet wanting to open up. The face is drawn in black, purple and white. This monochrome color scale is in complete contrast to the yellow background. The white lace corresponds with her white shirt. White, the color of innocence, suggests purity. I concentrated fully on the statement, I wanted to avoid anything superfluous, I wanted to create a strong statement. It was important to retain the freshness of the painting.

Germany
I am a Berlin based painter. I was born in Transylvania and attended an art school and an art academy. I have a classical academic education. After I moved to Germany in 1985, I continued to develop my painting style but also pursued new artistic paths. My work is mostly figurative, centered around societal, lifestyle, political and economic themes. The "modern man" with his way of life, as well as his feelings take up the most prominent place. Textiles, too, have a central role in my work. They are often the triggering element, at the basis of the work process itself. My goal is to create an illusion, so that mixed mediums on the canvas are not visible right away. The paint is applied in a thin layer, so that the process of painting is visible. My work has been shown at several art fairs, such as KIAF, Soul, Art Karlsruhe, Art Market Budapest, Cologne List, Berlin etc. I was fortunate to receive some art scholarships and my paintings are also represented in several private and public collections such as Daimler Art collection, Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau Frankfurt, Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart, Südwestbank Stuttgart, Städtische Kunstsammlung Kirchheim unter Teck, Städtische Museen Heilbronn, Landratsamt Heilbronn, Städtische Galerie Esslingen, Stadt- und Fachwerkmuseum Eppingen, IG Metall- Zentrale Frankfurt am Main, Stadt Güglingen, Stadt Neckarsulm, Heimatmuseum Flacht, E-Werk Freiburg, Hallen für Kunst, TTR Technologiepark Tübingen-Reutlingen, Sammlung KOGART, Budapest, Stadt Samorin/SK, Stadt Štúrovo/SK.
