This is part of an ongoing series of collages in various styles and subject matter. This particular piece is inspired by a 1917 oil painting by Cubist painter Georges Braque, titled in French "La joueuse de mandoline" (= The Mandolin Player). My artwork here is made up of Canson coloured pastel papers, my own handmade acrylic coloured papers, black and red marker, white pastel pencil---all pasted onto a thin (0.26 inch) cardboard backing. It is hoped that the particular imagery conveyed by this Collage is bound to attract the attention of any curious viewer interested in the cubist style and jazz music of the early years of the 20th century. And once appropriately Matted and Framed by the Buyer, it should make for a colourful art piece, suitable to hang anywhere, either by itself or among other artworks. As with any paper artwork it is strongly recommended that it be displayed under glass for proper preservation and enhanced presentation.
