About The Artwork
Mix of Andy with some street brushes. The street art brush sample is a photo which I took myself. I rediscovered contour portraits because of my attempt to start painting. I started to draw family members and then I found a way to draw and paint contour like portraits with high contrasts. So the contour-project started which is basically a mix between graphic style portraits and using patterned photos from my archive. I like this style because the definition by the black background and the contour edges.

I was raised in a town called Groningen and became involved with photography during my study Dutch Language and Literature. My father gave me a camera (Fuji) for my 16th birthday. My digital artwork is based on photography. I try to create new forms that originate from ordinary, sometimes even unnoticed objects: fire escapes, rusty containers, details of buildings. It's nice to give meaning to things that had little or no meaning before. Sometimes it's like giving life to dead objects. The outcome of a collage is never certain, they continue to surprise. And sometimes one picture is just enough.
