Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nh9wmJRywuM ... The carousel as a metaphor for human civilization attracts my imagination as an artist. There are many allusions to our life in the Carousel, this is the Endless Fair of Vanity, the Parade of Ambition, the endless circle of human obsession with having more, becoming taller, richer, more influential, etc. Ordinary horses from papier-mâché have turned into some kind of magical creatures, which in fact does not matter for those who want to ride them. The very status of standing on something, and not walking like an ordinary person, the illusion that you are controlling your horse, ignoring the fact that it is artificial, and therefore cannot take you anywhere other than the round and round very essence of the carousel. After a while, I continued to paint other works on the theme of the Carousel, then "Carousel II - Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" appeared, and now the third graphic work: "Paranoid Carousel". We used to think of most people as normal, mentally stable people. Well, having a certain experience of life among "ordinary" people, I think this is not true. Most people are mentally ill, and one of the most common illnesses is paranoia. This is the case when people think that someone or something controls their life, sets the rules that unknown forces are above (outside, in the shadows), and these forces are lords, rulers, manipulators. All major religions, conspiracies, all kinds of myths and legends that people believe in are collected here. . Technique: this piece is drawn with the graphite pencil on Arches acid-free cold pressed watercolor paper, the actual size of the drawing is: 18.5" X 26" (with margins: 22" X 30").
