About The Artwork
This is one of a series of 10 toner transfer prints inspired by Pop Art and US history. I set out to find a visual way to reimagine the representation of the early presidents of the US who held enslaved people. It's meant to remind people of the US's origins and problems. I have been working with toner transfers for the past 14 years. I particularly like how I can work in a small studio apartment with simple mediums.

Independent Artist. I have been creating art for several decades and am inspired by my academic research in visual representations of history. I hold a master's degree in Cultural Studies from the University of London and have studied in two PHD programs, one at the University of Kentucky in the Philosophy Department. I was trained in continental philosophy and women's studies at DePaul University Chicago, where I earned my BA in both disciplines. Additionally, I am attracted to industrial and urban sites where I find beauty in what others describe as ugly.
