About The Artwork
A Grand Day Out is part of my ongoing Adonis series revolving around the deconstruction of masculine gender roles. My painting is heavily influenced by Rococo and Romantic painting, absurdist comedy, cartoons, glam, and post-punk. The figures in this series exist in interstitial and liminal spaces that become places of safety through solitude or anonymity for the practice of aesthetics that defy cultural expectations. They're also just a fun bit of goodhearted sleaze.
