About The Artwork
I had a photo-shoot for a client in 2007 or thereabout for a fashion shoot. I decided to paint this as this duo of models still etched in my mind since then. It is a series. Here is a mix of contemporary fashion sense of Yoruba or African fabric in batik and " hand sown aso oke" (traditional heavy cottons) cut into contemporary fashion designs. Aso Oke is a traditional wear a staple for very important events amongst the Yoruba tribe,It has survived ages till today. I designed the whole of the photoshoot ambience and the gesture of the willing models... Enjoy the adire fabric on the floor and the buba (blouse)and the tight T shirts.
