The idea for this piece took me while I was thinking to LucioFontana, the famous artist who created the "tagli" artworks, using canvas as a sculpture, not to depict a mere two dimensional painting. While reading a piece about him, I wondered if I could create a painting "sticking out" of the paper, thus reaching the viewer. Suddenly an image of a woman blowing something out of the painting appeared in my mind, and the image of this painting was almost complete. Woman you can see is nothing but a kind of nature spirit, blowing a nurturing and fertile golden breath toward us, even if we don't deserve it and often make wounds to mother nature. It was only after finishing the painting that I remembered the myth of Zeus and Danae, when Zeus himself changed into a golden mist in order to make Danae pregnant with Prometeus. The #archetype, as #Jung would have said, reached me as well, appearing in this painting even if I wasn't conscious of it. Golden breath is made of glitter, it is not painted on the paper surface: this is my homage to a three dimensional idea I mentioned above.
