I met this lady in Morrisons supermarket as she was picking up food for her young child. Right away I could see there was something more going on inside. On the first day of sitting we talked in length and she shared with me that she had lost her partner in a road accident just three months previous. What struck me about her and what I tried to portray in the painting was the light and stringent she still had. She knew her love was always close and she was full of hope for herself and her child.
