VIEW IN MY ROOM
Compass is part of the series of works dealing with the situation of horrific loss of life and displacement of the peoples of the Darfur region of Sudan in Africa. My work has always been about the importance of place and the idea of home. I've utilized maps and mapping symbols in my paintings and drawings for quite some time representing the desire to locate place. Place for the viewer, the viewer's eye, and an attempt to make some type of visual poetry of this disaster.
