About The Artwork
The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate, the one-mile-wide (1.6 km) strait connecting San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The structure links the U.S. city of San Francisco, California—the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula—to Marin County. The bridge is one of the most internationally recognized symbols of San Francisco, California, and the United States. Sue was inspired to paint this bridge because of the intense red color of the bridge against the sparkling clear blue sky. She could see the sun and an airplane flying overhead in the distance and captured the mood and perspective in her fun whimsical style. The painting is finished off with a bold but elegant black wooden floater frame, all hardware attached and ready to hang.
