Happy Days is a painting with a narrative that I hope provokes a number of different emotions - sympathy, sadness or even joy. It's a contrast between the upbeat positivity and fun of the seaside, versus the reality or a wet, out of season day. I have recently started to paint more urban landscapes and in particular the British coast as I like the generally tired but once grand arcades and architecture that feature. This is a fairly large canvas with muted colours and tones, that I hope is thought provoking but also interesting to look at.

Tony Munns Artist Biography Based in Lincolnshire, UK, Tony Munns has enjoyed a successful career as a Graphic Designer and Creative Director, and has worked for many household brands and organisations. It is only within the last five years that he has also begun to build a reputation as a fine artist, painting in acrylics and focussing on the subjects that are closest to his heart – namely the sea and the British seaside. His sketchy painting technique, combined with an eye for graphic detail and strong narratives gives his work a distinctive yet approachable style that has resulted in sales worldwide. His first solo exhibition is scheduled for summer 2022. Tony was born on London in 1960, and always kept a sketch book handy during his childhood. At age 16 he decided on a career in commercial art, graduating with an honours degree in Graphic Design from Ravensbourne in 1982. As an artist, he is self-taught and is particularly drawn to the Impressionists and to works that capture movement and light with confident, broad brushstrokes. In 2019, he has appeared as a ‘pod’ artist on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year, and has since gone on to create an impressive collection of seascapes, waterscapes and coastal scenes that include many familiar and sometimes nostalgic features.
