The highest mountains of our planet - the Himalayas - are located in Eurasia, on the territory of seven countries: India, Nepal, China, Pakistan. The word “Himalaya” means “Snow Kingdom” translated from the ancient language of Sanskrit. The name is very accurate - snow and ice above a certain level never melt, and in terms of the amount of snow and ice this area is in third place, second only to Antarctica and the Arctic. 10 of the 14 highest peaks in the world are located in the Himalayas. Mount Everest, also known as Sagarmatha, Qomolangma and Shenmufeng, is the highest peak on Earth, 8848 meters above sea level. the mountain looks like a three-sided pyramid. On the southern side, the slope and ribs are so steep that neither glaciers nor snow can support them.
