"When I was painting this, I was reminded of summer camp, walking outside during and after the sunset to see the sun go down and the stars come out. The earthiness of the lower third is completely overcome by the colors of the abstract sky. And once the lights are turned off in the room where in the painting is hung, these stars will glow too.
