One of the Cairo New York collection. Cables and wires represent modern communication, continuity, and connection between places, regardless of distance, time, and cultural differences. Communication wires remain regardless of any social or personal changes. This project is a tale of experience gained through moving, separating, and staying connected between worlds, I became part of this complicated net of communication, where I found myself between the misery of longing and the change in an artist’s intellectual complexities and practices. I consider the cable system above my home in Staten Island, New York, or when they connected my body through wires to record my heart beats. There are many elements of life for myself and my family, all connected by a complicated network of cables that take many shapes, languages, and objectives. Contemporary life is always a continuous connection between past and present.
