About The Artwork

The left brain right brain paradox. As a graphic designer, I work with type all day long. I have to create highly functional, and usable layouts for digital products and brands. Typography in this realm is about communication: the message and brand tone. As a painter, I don't have to follow those rules. Type can just be a simple form that doesn't have a specific meaning understood universally. Here, its really up to the viewer to connect and perceive. In this piece, I explored creating more depth. I painted gestural lines, textures, patterns and loads of my favorite shape—the circle— on translucent deli paper and collaged many many layers onto the canvas.

As an artist and designer, I've always relished the challenge of turning nothing into something. My art is where spontaneity and careful planning coexist, a reflection of my journey from design to the canvas. Drawing inspiration from contemporaries and the great artists like Frankenthaler, Matisse and Rauschenberg, I navigate the realms of abstract expressionism and mixed media collage. With acrylics, ink, and found objects, I craft pieces that invite joy and provoke curiosity. Each creation is a dialogue, offering layers of texture, color, pattern and form for the viewer to explore. My approach is dual-natured: vibrant and unrestrained at times, deliberate and nuanced at others. Whether through bold color play or intricate patterns, cutting up and rearranging, my work seeks to engage, connect, and enliven. Recent highlights include a solo show at a local gallery and participation in a juried group show, where I received an Honorable Mention by the juror from the Camp Gallery in Miami. My work has been featured in British Vogue and I am collaborating with Anthropologie for some prints.
