About The Artwork
This is a commission I got asked to do in early 2019. I wanted the subject in a profile view with her chin up looking confident and proud. I went for an as close to real likeness as I could in terms of the form, but pushed the colours to something a little past realistic and then mixed this with an abstract background of flowers both painted onto and stratched into the surface. I finished it by writing "bosque profundo" somewhere amongst the flowers. This is a phrase often said by the subject when we first met.

J A C Bezer is an English artist based in Barcelona, Spain. Self-taught, his interests lie in portraiture, figurative, and abstract painting. His focus for the last year has been his collection of bird paintings. Each is an oil painting of a bird on top of and abstract background painted in acrylics. In this collection he is interested in the juxtaposition between the formless abstract backgrounds and the crispness and detail on the birds on top. He divides his time teaching, painting originals and working on commissions.
