About The Artwork
It was time when I could neither live, nor eat, nor read, I could not do anything. Then my friend - an artist from New York – sent me a link to YouTube. There was a live camera. Camera near a water pool in Africa. Most of the time there were only sounds, some birds, the rustling of sand, the blowing of the wind. Sunrises, sunsets, but sometimes rhinos, giraffes, antelopes, hyenas, some very small fluffy animals, apparently wild cats, came. I watched for a day and night, I changed channels and connected myself to all the watering pools in Africa. I looked again and again. Listened. It seemed to me that I was finally hearing the starry sky, which then disappeared for me in Moscow. And one late evening, elephants came to drink to the Okaukuejo somewhere in Namibia. If the theory that we keep in memory absolutely everything that we see is true, I wish that from those months in my life only two elephants under the starry sky of Africa remain.

As a Russian-born artist who has explored the world and its various cultures, art has always been a central pillar of my existence. My journey led me to Madrid, where I delved into the realm of photography at the TAI school from 2012 to 2017. However, fate took me back to Moscow during the tumultuous events of 2022, a time of great upheaval and uncertainty. Amidst the chaos and turmoil of war, I found solace in a new form of expression: painting. Previously unexplored by me, painting became a refuge during those dark times, offering me moments of respite from fear and anxiety. The process of painting, with its intricate blending of colors and textures, became a source of joy and escape from the harsh realities surrounding me. Even today, as I continue my artistic pursuits in this new chapter of my life, I find that my paintings often carry a hint of drama. While the reasons behind this artistic inclination remain elusive, I embrace it as a unique aspect of my creative identity. Each stroke of the brush unveils a world detached from reality, allowing me to lose myself in the creation of something entirely new and captivating.
