Pink Ballerina Painting

I am interested in depicting the human figure in a state of motion. This painting shows a ballerina in full flight as she performs a jump. I have cropped this image because I want to show the essence of the movement in the space of the canvas. I want to show a part of the space she is in, and in terms of time, this reflects the moment when she passes. I am trying to combine a love of both drawing and painting to create the effect of something sculptural. Everything is contained in the contour, the line of the figure, and I draw this with oil paints, adding paint and then carving it away, as a sculptor would carve a sculpture in marble. I am also a sculptor who specialises in carving marble figures and portraits, and I like to think of my paintings as sculptures in a way!
