About The Artwork

Inspired by landscapes both visited and imagined. The title of the painting is a play on Sator Arepo Tenet Opera Rotas, the words when placed on top of the other can be read in any direction creating a palindrome. The phrase is sometimes believed to hold magical properties - the oldest known representation was carved into a stone tablet and discovered in the ruins of Pompeii. It has been found at significant sites all across the world. "Reppoh Emolas" is "Salome Hopper" reversed, a recurring character from my paintings. The painting comes ready to hang with deep painted edges.
