About The Artwork
Stilt Fishing is a unique feature of Sri Lanka. The fishermen who perch themselves on cross-shaped beams need a combination of balance and patience. It is a traditional style of fishing practised mainly on the southern coast. Freezing in a various poses, the fishermen look fantastic in the vivid rays of sunrise and sunset. This relief painting was handcrafted using multiple layers of polymer clay on foamboard, baked for strength and durability, and finished with a passe-partout and wooden frame.
