There is always an underlying cause to everything we do. You have to peel the layers back to find out what that is.

This is an acrylic painting on thick linen coated paper. I also used collage, caran d'ache crayon and acrylic paint pen. Protected with a clear fixative. Signed and date lower right under the image and on the back.

Inspired by Joan Mitchell and Cy Twombly for their freedom of expression.

Linda O’Neill grew up in Northern California before moving to Boulder, Colorado in 1997. She loves living near the mountains where she gains inspiration from the landscape on early morning walks with her husband and Belgian Shepherd. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Dominican University in San Rafael, California. It was there that she developed a passion for abstract expressionism which led her to further develop her talent as an abstract painter. Her many exhibitions in museums and galleries and international art fairs have included: Littleton Museum of Art, Littleton, Colorado; Alexandria Museum of Art, Alexandria, Louisiana; Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, Augusta, Georgia; and Stephen F. Austin University in Texas; among others. She has received many awards that include Best of Show for her work in the “Resurgence” Exhibition, Aedra Fine Arts, New Jersey and Best of Show Second Place for her painting “Ordinary Limits” in the exhibition, “Destination” presented at the Littleton Museum, Littleton, CO. She received an Award of Excellence in “The Healing Power of Art 2020” exhibition curated by Renee Phillips, Director of Manhattan Arts International, New York, New York, “for her originality, technical prowess, and cohesive creative vision that reflects depth, fluidity and an optimistic spirit.” Linda and her art have been featured in numerous art publications, directories, and books. She was selected for inclusion in the “50 Artists to Watch 2023” book by Florence Contemporary Gallery in Milan, Italy and the Art Folio Book: “Curated Collection of the World’s Most Exciting Artists”, published by Glitterati Editions, New York, NY; was a Featured Artist in Emergo Art Magazine, based in The Netherlands; and Vogue UK magazine. Prior to pursuing her own art career, Linda worked as a Digital Painter on motion pictures and commercials at Industrial Light+Magic, the special effects division of LucasFilm. ARTIST STATEMENT: I create abstract artwork that is intuitive and expressive, communicating my deepest emotions through color, movement, and form. Nature has always inspired me, and its beautiful hues and shapes often emerge in my paintings. I obtained my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1993 with a focus on printmaking. After experimenting with various mediums, I now prefer to paint with acrylics on canvas and paper.
