About The Artwork

It is a refreshing edgy abstract painting on small canvas. The shades of green flowing across the canvas suggests of liquidity of interesting movements with only using minimum set of colors. It was my first attempt of dealing with brushes, started with layer after layer which resulting into rough textures with a classic vibe. Green is never my first option when it comes to paint so it sort of challenged me to create something attractive, not to mention the canvas is on the smaller size. It is also a thick frame and colored with a greenish paint. Hey remember when your mom always said, eat your veggie? finish your veggie? This painting also my very first creation that funnily ended up delivering an important message from someone, to eat your veggie first.

Abdul Karim or mostly known as Karim Chan is a Sydney - Australia based non-professional artist who enjoy doing abstract painting on his spare times. Coming from corporate world of operational auditing in Indonesia, he migrated to Australia in search of new challenges for whatever he was offered with. He had always dealt with art and design since he was young till uni era; from designing magazines, posters or as an events' creative team. He then had his fair share of learning Graphic Design in Sydney and currently working in retail industry. Karim only just started to get into painting in 2022. His disciplinary backgrounds and his obsession of keeping things in order shape his ways of delivering art hence his abstracts are still somehow look "controlled and neat". Karim uses acrylic paints on different sizes of canvases together with the mediums of palettes, rubber wedges, spatula, brushes and bare fingers. He got inspirations from many things: quaint interiors, street signs, rundown buildings, pop cultures to nature and many more. His highly fond of cooking might influence his creative artistry someday. Karim really loves colors, from pastel-muted or bold and vibrant ones. Nowadays he most likely toning down the colors used on the canvas. As a burgeoning force in the world of abstract painting, Karim brings a refreshing versatility to the canvas by refusing to be tethered to one particular style. He explores the myriad possibilities of abstract painting, constantly evolving and experimenting with different techniques and mediums, embracing the fluid nature of creativity. He would at least sum up his styles into gestural, geometric or color field abstract. This dynamic approach not only showcases a wide range of artistic expressions but also invites viewers to experience the limitless potential of his abstract art. Karim wishes that you still can sense any signs of signature style out of all his paintings.
