A volcano is a rupture in the crust of a planetary mass object, such as the Earth, that allows hot lava, volcanic ash, and gases to escape from a magma chamber beneath the surface. In metaphorical terms, a volcanic eruption represents the vain efforts of a divine being. Lava is associated with the root chakra because, like the roots, it comes from the depths of the ground. The earthly qualities of lava make it a stone of rooting, concentration and balance, materialism and moderation. His fiery energy is associated with passion, assertiveness and energy. The ancient Romans believed that Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and metalworking, caused volcanic eruptions. According to mythology, the forge of Vulcano, where he worked metals, was located under Etna, a volcano on the island of Sicily in Italy. Pelé is the deity of the Hawaiian volcano, an elemental force and the creator of these volcanic landscapes. According to tradition it is embodied by lava and natural forces related to volcanic eruptions. Volcanoes are mentioned in a single passage in the ancient Nordic sagas. When Christians arrive in Iceland, one of the pagan priests is asked if volcanic eruptions are the way the gods punish Vikings for allowing Christians to come to the island. The volcano is a perfect metaphor for what happens to children when they try to handle difficult emotions. Many children, adolescents, and even adults set aside difficult feelings such as anxiety, sadness, and loss, choosing to avoid them rather than face them head on. This strategy does not work for long, as these difficult emotions do not disappear but instead accumulate over time until they explode into a wave of emotions.

Nix is the artistic signature of Giovanni Iacomino, Neapolitan, electronic engineer and currently manager of a multinational company. An expert in telecommunications and security and control systems, he has recently started an artistic career, dedicating himself to abstract painting. Nix creates pictorial and plastic works that go beyond the representation of real objects and that move away from known and recognizable shapes and images using a visual language of shapes, colors and lines to create a composition that can exist independently of visual references in the world. Apparently, nothing remains of reality: only shapes and colors. But reality is at the same time the real source of inspiration. Nix wants to restore beauty to objects that seem to have lost it with daily use and assign them a connotation of meaning different from the more widespread one. The paintings often incorporate waste materials used daily, such as paper napkins, packaging, etc., identifying in the objects themselves the quintessence of the consumer society and industrialized production. Reusing them is an aid, albeit limited, to environmental sustainability.
