Bodies Print

This original digital art was created from a freehand painting with black acrylic paint. I then digitally traced and made the art into a "vector". The vector can be expanded to any size possible without loosing quality or definition. In terms of the painting - I start by making a few organic shapes with the paint brush in fairly quick succession - but allowing enough negative space between each one. I wanted each shape to be pleasing by itself but also work with the others. It's quite tricky to get right because if one line goes out of balance with the others, the whole composition is ruined. My eye "has to agree with my brain" as I progress. This means I want the result to be centred and even on the page, even through the randomness of the process. As I subconsciously create the painting, it's starts to take form. I was inspired by viruses and cells and is somewhat of a reflection of turning something quite deadly into something beautiful.
