About The Artwork

My work is is characterized by a systematic, structured approach, which arises from a specific set of rules and variables. Each work is part of a larger serie and each serie has its own set of parameters. These systems allow me to explore the creative possibilities within. This work is unique and hand-drawn in light-fast ink or the best quality paint on 250 gsm acid free paper. This drawing can be seen as part of the larger '121' line series. A continuous study of combining lines in two or more colors within one plane. The result is the perception of a third color. Colors used: red and purple. Signed and dated. Ready to frame by the collector.

Maurice van Venrooij (1977) is a contemporary artist and has his studio in Helmond (the Netherlands). My work is abstract, and is characterized by a systematic, structured approach, which arises from a specific set of rules and variables. Each work is part of a larger serie and each serie has its own set of parameters. These systems allow me to explore the creative possibilities within, which results in infinite options. My study as an architect at the University of Eindhoven has provided me with the fundamentals in my work today. The basic architectonic principles of line, dot, square, grid and zoning, are essential in my work.
