About The Artwork
After painting only watercolours during the last couple of months, I needed a change and wanted to return to figurative art and the medium of pastel. I particularly enjoy drawing ballet dancers and my favourite ballet is Swan Lake. This painting is of Odette, the Swan Queen. I think the medium of pastel lends itself to this subject and enhances the romanticism.

Born 1944, Chelmsford, England.I grew up in Falmouth but lived and worked as an artist in Truro from 1970 until I moved to Spain in 2001.I have been painting since I was 2 years old but I also have a love of nature, my animals, classical music and dance. In 2002 I moved to Spain and now live in the Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata in Almeria. The scenery around my home provides endless, beautiful subjects for landscape painting and I get inspiration from the dramatic landscapes of Andalucia and the old cities, towns and villages. I am also interested in portraiture and figure studies and my preferred medium for these is soft pastel.
