About The Artwork
This artwork is inspired by two famous Byzantine fortresses, one located in Constantinople and the other in Thessaloniki, both named "Heptapyrgion", or "Castle with seven towers". Both fortresses played a vital role in the defence of the above cities, as they guarded the main door orr housed the city's garrison. This painting "reinvents" the Heptapyrgion, turning it into a leisure castle, a hunting lodge for the royal family and the noble families where to enjoy feasts and parties.
